II. ISLAMIC APPROACHES TO GLOBAL ISSUES INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

“Global Inequalities and Islam’s Understanding of Justice”

5-6 November 2025

Organised by

Faculty of Theology – Sinop University

In the modern world, growing inequalities in the social, economic, and political spheres have deepened humanity’s quest for justice. The existing world order, shaped by the core values of the capitalist system, continues to widen the gap between the rich and the poor, pushing aside humane values such as rights, the rule of law, and compassion. Islam, on the other hand, presents justice not merely as a system of governance, but as a principle of faith and moral responsibility. This conception of justice, shaped by the Qur’an and the Sunnah, seeks to establish balance between the rich and the poor, prevent the domination of the weak by the powerful, and ensure fair treatment for all segments of society. The 2nd International Symposium on Islamic Approaches to Global Issues, themed “Global Inequalities and the Islam’s Understanding of Justice,” is expected to bring together researchers from various disciplines—primarily in the field of Theology—to contribute to the enrichment of Islamic intellectual knowledge and to enhance Islamic awareness and sensitivity toward global issues. Furthermore, this symposium aims to address global inequalities from an Islamic perspective and to explore how the universal principle of justice in Islam can be applied in the contemporary world.
